MacBooks are very interesting devices. For people who switch from a Windows to a Mac, it can sometimes make them pull their hair and question their decision of buying it altogether. However, it seems the good people at Apple anticipated this beforehand and spiced up the MacBook with some very cool shortcuts and features. And no, you won’t just stumble upon these randomly. But once you do, there’s no going back.

  • Record Your Screen

Want to make a video tutorial with your laptop screen? Simply use the ‘New Screen Recording’ option in Quicktime player.

  • Incremental Volume Adjust

Want to adjust the volume by just slightly? You don’t have to turn it up or down by a whole point because Mac allows you to increase it by as much as a fourth of a point as well! Press Shift + Option and hit the volume up or down button along with it, and voila!


In fact, you can adjust your screen brightness the same way as well. Go ahead, try!

  • Emoji Keyboard

Are you someone who uses more emojis than words while typing? Then Mac has a special feature for you. Press Command + Control + Space while typing and your loved emoji keyboard will appear!

  • Rename a batch of files

Want to name a number of files in a similar manner? Select them at the same time and double click on them, and select the ‘rename X items’ option. You have a whole variety of formatting options to play around with!

  • Hide Notifications

Tired of the notifications that keep popping up on the right side of your screen? You can switch them off simply by going to the notifications tab on the right and activate the ‘Do Not Disturb’ feature.

Want to find out the meaning of a word you’re reading? Hover the cursor over the word and click on the trackpad with three fingers, and you instantly have a dictionary popping up to your aid!
